Make Yourself Comfortable: An Introduction to Confident Public Speaking

Public speaking doesn’t have to feel intimidating — and it certainly doesn’t have to feel stiff or performative. This introductory workshop is a relaxed, encouraging introduction to the basics of speaking in front of a group with greater ease and confidence.
You’ll explore simple, practical steps for preparing a short talk, organizing your thoughts, and stepping into a room feeling more grounded and comfortable. We’ll touch on how to read a room, connect with an audience, and use voice, gestures, props, and even a bit of humor to support what you’re sharing. The focus is not on perfection, but on finding your natural rhythm and presence.
This session offers a light practicum component in a supportive environment, giving you a chance to experience what it feels like to speak without pressure. It’s designed as a sampler event — enough to give you helpful tools and confidence, while allowing you to see whether you’d like to explore this subject more deeply in a future workshop or series.
Perfect for anyone who teaches, facilitates, presents, or simply wants to feel more at ease speaking in front of others.
Facilitated by Carol Borsello.
