Carol is a lifelong reader, writer, and thoughtful observer of life’s many chapters. Having lived what she describes as “several lives within one,” Carol brings depth, honesty, and lived experience to both her writing and her teaching.
From 2005 to 2010, Carol worked at Vanderbilt University’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital in Nashville, serving first as an Administrative Assistant and later as Program Assistant within the Development Office. She supported executive leadership and the hospital’s Board of Directors, drafted correspondence, prepared reports, coordinated events, and worked closely with donors, city leaders, and department heads. Her work required discretion, organization, and strong communication skills — qualities that continue to shape her approach today.
Earlier in her life, Carol trained as a Massage Therapist and worked in healthcare, an experience that deepened her understanding of presence, listening, and meeting people where they are.
Carol is the author of a travel memoir, a book of poetry, and a multi-volume collection drawn from her long-running blog. Her writing reflects a deep appreciation for language, story, and the small but meaningful moments that shape who we become. Her memoir, Riding the Light, chronicles a brief but transformative chapter of reinvention — a month spent traveling from Nashville to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, with her Akita. While the road proved lonelier than expected and life redirected her plans (as it so often does), the experience remains a testament to courage, adaptability, and learning to listen when life speaks.
As a facilitator, Carol offers a relaxed and supportive approach to writing and speaking. She believes meaningful communication doesn’t come from performance or perfection, but from comfort, clarity, and authenticity. In her classes, participants are encouraged to find their natural rhythm, trust their voice, and communicate in a way that feels genuine rather than forced.
Carol’s teaching style is practical, encouraging, and grounded in real experience — ideal for anyone who wants to speak or write with greater ease, confidence, and heart.
